Trinity Lutheran
Church

Trinity Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) who accepts the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther and worships the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We use the Bible as the source and norm of Christian life, believing that it is given by God for our direction in life. The purpose of Trinity is to proclaim this message every Sunday.

We believe that Man is saved by faith and is counted as righteous before God. We welcome you to join us!

Our History Timeline

1922
Our beginning

In 1922, a group of Lutheran believers in small town Willoughby, Ohio, felt the call to carry the Christian witness to the underserved people of God around them.  In May of that year, the seeds of Trinity Lutheran Church were planted!

1926
Church Opened

Trinity Lutheran Church was formally organized on August 27, 1926, and from a list of candidates, Rev. Albert Weber was called as our first Pastor. On October 12, 1930, a permanent structure was dedicated at the corner of Sharpe and Murray Avenues with seating for over 175 persons. Rev. Erich Allwardt served as Pastor at that time until 1944, which was when Rev E.W. Schnedler accepted a call to be our Pastor. The church continued to grow; and on Trinity Sunday, June 5, 1955, our present church building was dedicated to the Glory of God.

1982
Church continues to grow

After 37 years of faithful service, Pastor Schnedler retired. In 1982, Rev. Robert Schuler became our Pastor. Under Pastor Schuler's guidance, the church continued to thrive and many additions were added to our church, including a new entrance, an elevator, two new meeting rooms, a new organ, and a renovated sanctuary. Pastor Schuler retired in 2016 after serving for 34 years.

2017
Church remained open in spite of COVID-19

In 2017, we welcomed Rev. Adam Sorenson. While COVID-19 shuttered many churches, Trinity's doors remained open for the entirety and in fact, placed a lot of focus on outreach. Pastor Sorenson served as our spiritual leader until 2024.
